- Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions
The law was given because of transgressions. The law clearly reveals our sins in us.
We see the darkness and filthiness that are prevalent in our hearts through the law.
We see the darkness and filthiness that are prevalent in our hearts through the law.
Without the law, how do I know if coveting is sin?
But the law says, coveting is sin. Therefore, we know that coveting does not come from God but rather originates from evil or sin.
Just like Satan coveted God's supremacy and honour, and became exceedingly sinful, so we observe our own sinfulness because the law reveals our sins in us.
Because we have the problem of sin, we need someone to get rid of our sins for us.
That is what Jesus does for us. He dies on the cross for our sins so that we would not be condemned but rather He was condemned for us.
We have received eternal life in Jesus, and He confirmed His promise by His resurrection. He accomplished what He said He would.
We are born again in Christ and we live forever in Christ.
So, we now live no longer by the law, but by the spirit of Christ.
To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
